I chose to build this project because I was a teacher who struggled to complete my report card comments. The comment generator was the answer to the problem.
My biggest challenge when creating this project was mapping and filtering through my comments array. I solved the problem by breaking down my functions into smaller parts.
For example, I started by displaying the comments. After I was able to display the comments, I then went to apply the methods. When I broke the problem down into smaller parts I was able to figure out how to use the methods correctly.
I created this website to improve my skills in using CSS grid layout. I used a boilerplate and customized some features. I added a carousel, a current projects section, and an audio player. I had to use JavaScript to customize the design of HTML’s basic audio player.
After being a teacher for five years, I knew I was ready for something new. In 2020, my cousin encouraged me to do a coding workshop with her. In the workshop, I learned how to build a static landing page with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue on the path.
I know how to build responsive web pages and applications using various frameworks and tools. I am now seeking a full-time role where I can contribute my technical skills in React. I want to combine the technical skills and my transferable skills as an experienced teacher to help my future employer reach its goals.
